The Welsh Conservatives have selected their Parliamentary Candidate to fight the Vale of Clwyd at the next General Election.
Dr James Davies, who represented the constituency between 2015-2017, said he was delighted to have been chosen and to be given this opportunity to fight for his home constituency.
Speaking afterwards, James said health, social care and local regeneration are his top priorities - after Brexit.
James said: "It is vital that we deliver on the mandate of the 2016 referendum, or faith in democracy will be irreparably damaged."
On health, James, who is a doctor and has been working in the NHS for 15 years, said the service locally is being left behind. He said: "The Welsh Labour Government has proven that it lacks the ability to oversee safe and efficient health care and I see this on a daily basis. Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board has been in special measures, under the direct control of the Welsh Labour Government, for four years, without any sign of progress. This is just not good enough. We all deserve better and I believe we need people in Parliament who have first-hand experience."
Local Regeneration is close to James' heart and despite some success in Rhyl, he says there is still much more to be done. He said: "We need to make the most of opportunities available through the North Wales Growth Deal, and the Northern Powerhouse. Our area needs to be attractive, not just for businesses and investors, but for all of us. That's why I believe we need to take a much tougher line on antisocial behaviour and crime."
James says he hopes to speak to as many people as possible before the election. He will also be reaching out again to the more rural areas of the constituency.
He said: "There is no doubt, people in our rural areas feel overlooked and forgotten by Welsh Labour this was vocalised by many during my time as MP.
If I have the honour of becoming the next MP for the Vale of Clwyd, I will focus my efforts across the constituency ensuring all towns and villages feel represented.
